(Scopus) (РИНЦ)

Training

Arkady N. Soloviev completed his education programme at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, Rostov State University, with a major in Mechanics (1976).

Job Title

Professor, Head of the Theoretical and Applied Mechanics Department, Don State Technical University; professor of the Mathematical Modeling Department, Southern Federal University; acting Head of the Smart Materials Mechanics Laboratory, SSC RAS Rostov-on-Don, Russia.

Scientific Activities

Prof. Soloviev has developed methods of non-classical boundary integral equations for the problems of the anisotropic theory of elasticity and electroelasticity; solutions to inverse geometric problems of anisotropic elasticity theory for the identification of crack-like defects based on using the reciprocity theorem and sets of auxiliary solutions; solving inverse geometric and coefficient problems of anisotropic elasticity theory based on the combination of finite element method (FEM) and genetic algorithms, FEM and artificial neural networks; identification of mechanical and electrical properties of piezoceramic materials; modeling of composite materials and structures with their application including identification of the mechanical and fatigue properties of reinforced polymer composites used in helicopter industry; modeling and optimization of the output characteristics of piezoelectric generators for green energy storage devices.

Research Areas

Direct and inverse problems of continuum mechanics; development of methods for reconstruction of the damaged state of composites; modeling of functionally gradient materials; development of genetic algorithms and neural networks and their application to solving inverse problems; development of CAE packages.
