The journal “Vestnik of Don State Technical University” was organized in 1999. Its first Editor-in-Chief was Anatoly A. Ryzhkin, Dr.Sci. (Engineering), Professor, a well-known scientist in the field of thermodynamics of friction and cutting processes.

Since the first issues, the Journal has published research papers and analytical materials of famous Russian and foreign scientists and investigators on a wide array of scientific challenges. The Journal is characterized by high requirements to published materials and objectivity in their evaluation. The Editorial Board members have always been and are to date the most prestigious scientists. Peer reviews on the submitted articles are discussed at the meetings of the Editorial Board.

In 2007, Besarion Ch. Meskhi, Rector of Don State Technical University, Dr.Sci. (Engineering), Professor, took charge of the Editorial Board of the Journal.

In September 2020, the scientific journal “Vestnik of Don State Technical University” (ISSN 1992-5980) changed its name.

The new name of the journal is “Advanced Engineering Research (Rostov-on-Don)” (eISSN 2687-1653).

On the pages of the “Advanced Engineering Research (Rostov-on-Don)”, one can find interesting and useful scientific information on key issues of the development of mechanical engineering and machine science; mechanics; information technology, computer science and management. Our readers are young researchers and eminent scholars, students, postgraduate students, those  committed to science and the process of the scientific and technical creativity.

Currently, to get with the times, it is required to meet new higher demands on the content and ways of presenting scientific information. The journal “Advanced Engineering Research (Rostov-on-Don)” has been changing in order to meet the latest trends. Thus, the structure of the information content display and the website design of the Journal have been changed. This is done, on the one hand, for the convenience of users, and on the other, to meet the technical standards and requirements of the international publishing community.

In 2022, Aleksey N. Beskopylny, Vice-Rector of Don State Technical University, Professor, Dr. Sci. (Engineering), became the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal "Advanced Engineering Research (Rostov-on-Don)".

The journal publishes papers in the Russian and English languages.

Today, the Journal is indexed and archived in EBSCO, Google Scholar, Crossref, DOAJ (DOAJ Seal), Dimensions, Index Copernicus, as well as in the Russian Index of Science Citation (the two-year impact factor of the RISC for 2022 is 0.590), and it is included in the List of the Higher Attestation Commission under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The journal is available at the platforms of the CyberLeninka, Infra-M, Rukont, MPEI libraries.

Now the journal is being prepared for inclusion into other international databases.
